Chest Seal Patch

This product uses medical-grade polyurethane (PU) film or hypoallergenic non-woven fabric as the base material, with a composite one-way valve or screw design, coated with medical pressure-sensitive adhesive, and covered with release paper. The base material is soft and skin-friendly, with high breathability and waterproof and antibacterial properties, and can well conform to the skin curves of different parts of the chest, ensuring a firm adhesion even in humid, sweaty, or blood-contaminated environments. The core structure uses one-way valve technology, allowing gas and blood in the chest cavity to flow out in one direction while preventing external air and contaminants from entering the chest cavity, effectively reducing the risk of tension pneumothorax. Some models use a four-sided fully enclosed design with a valve, replacing the traditional three-sided fixation method, providing a more reliable sealing effect. The adhesive uses a medical-grade hypoallergenic formula, and the adhesive design balances firmness and ease of removal, allowing for quick removal in emergencies and facilitating subsequent medical procedures. The product is sterilized (usually ethylene oxide sterilization) and individually packaged for quick use at the emergency scene. Custom sizes (standard and major trauma types) and valve types (with spiral interface for connecting drainage devices) are available to suit different wound types, compatible with mainstream pre-hospital emergency care and tactical medical scenarios.

Suitable for emergency closure of open pneumothorax (inspiratory chest wounds); first-line treatment of penetrating chest wounds in tactical combat casualty care (TCCC) scenarios; on-site emergency care for chest wall defects caused by gunshot wounds, stab wounds, and shrapnel wounds in pre-hospital emergency care (120/999); emergency treatment of penetrating chest wounds at disaster sites; temporary closure of patients with penetrating chest wall injuries awaiting surgery in hospital emergency departments; emergency treatment of drainage tube dislodgement in patients with complex postoperative pneumothorax; emergency care for injuries in wilderness medicine and extreme sports; and other emergency scenarios requiring rapid closure of open chest wall injuries.

Direct application to large and complex chest wall defects (such as chest blast injuries or severe tissue loss); contraindicated for those allergic to polyurethane film, non-woven fabric, or medical pressure-sensitive adhesive; not suitable for alternative treatment of simple closed pneumothorax or tension pneumothorax (requires thoracentesis or closed chest drainage); although it has a one-way valve function, valve blockage or patient positioning may affect the air release effect; not suitable as the primary sealing device for patients with existing chest drainage tubes; some models may be incompatible with MRI examination environments; after use, the patient's respiratory and circulatory status should be closely monitored, and if progressive respiratory distress occurs, immediate "burp" treatment or needle decompression should be performed;
