The shelf life of medical dressings varies depending on factors such as product type, material, packaging, and storage conditions.

Shelf Life (Unopened)
Most medical dressings (e.g., disposable treatment towels, hydrocolloid dressings, polyethylene glycol wound dressings, 3L adhesive wound dressings, etc.): The sterile shelf life is typically 2–3 years, provided that the product remains unopened and is stored under conditions that are at room temperature, dry, and protected from light.

Certain specialized dressings (e.g., medical biogel dressings): Valid for 24 months (2 years).

Specific brand products (e.g., "Yishu" medical dressings): Valid for up to 3 years when unopened.

Shelf life after opening

Non-sterile dressings (e.g., gauze pads, disposable treatment towels, etc.): Upon opening, they are considered non-sterile; it is recommended to use them within 24 hours to prevent contamination.

Liquid or gel-based dressings (e.g., recombinant human collagen functional dressings): It is recommended to use them completely within one month of opening; some experts suggest that, provided strict aseptic conditions are maintained, this timeframe may be extended by up to 24 hours.
